Learn how to transfer shares from your existing share certificates with CSP

Use the Transfer Shares service request to transfer shares of your existing share certificates to a new or a current shareholder of your Singapore company.

You can make multiple transfers with the same service request.

In this service request, you will be able to use share certificates registered on CSP during the initial incorporation or transfer of your company to CSP, or when increasing your share capital.

For this request, you will be required to:

  • Select an existing share certificate(s) for the shares that are being transferred.
  • Select a company person(s) that the shares are transferred to.
  • Provide personal details for any new persons or companies.
  • Make a payment,
  • Mail the share certificates that are being transferred, in case any of them was previously delivered to a shareholder, and
  • Sign the necessary documents.

How to Start

You can start the Transfer Shares request at any time from the New Request page. The service request is a part of the Company Administration services category.

Step-by-step Instructions

Submit Request Step

In this step, you are required to add the share transfers that you wish to make.

You are not required to complete the form to SUBMIT the request to the staff if you have any questions. However, you must meet all the required information to move to further steps.

The Instructions section will guide you on what is required from you at each step of the service request.

Company Information

For your reference, your Company Name, UEN, and ACRA Business Profile are displayed in this section. You can download your ACRA Business Profile by clicking on the alt text icon.

To view the complete company profile and all associated documents for all your companies that are enrolled on CSP, select the My Companies link in the left navigation menu.

Transfer Shares

In this section, create share transfers that you wish to complete.

To add a new Share Transfer, click ADD on the Share Transfer table. The following window will appear.

The Seller dropdown displays the list of all active share certificates that were registered on CSP for your company either during the initial incorporation or transfer of your company to CSP or when increasing your share capital.

The seller or transferor share certificate that you select will be canceled with this service request. If you wish to transfer only a part of the certificate, the remaining shares will automatically generate a new share certificate. The new certificate will be assigned with a unique certificate number.

If you wish to transfer all shares from one shareholder, he or she will be removed from the list of Shareholders on CSP. However, it will remain on the list of Persons of your company.

The Buyer dropdown displays a list of your existing company shareholders and directors. If you are transferring shares to a new person or a company, click ADD on the Company Persons table and complete the required details about a new person. Then, this person will appear in the Buyer dropdown.

Complete the required fields Quantity and Price per Share for your new share transfer, and click SAVE. You can add multiple share transfers for one service request.

Share Transfer Date is not required at this point and will be filled out by staff at later steps.

Check Data For Completeness

Use the CHECK FOR COMPLETENESS button to ensure that you have provided all the required information to process your request. The system will show you the list of missing data if any.

When you are done with the form, SUBMIT the request to the staff. Staff will reply to any questions you may have and assign the request back to you at this same step. This back and forth communication can continue as long as required until all your questions are answered, and you are ready to move further.

Staff Attachments Section

The staff member may attach documents for your reference or examples of documents that you need to provide. These files will be displayed in the Staff Attachments section. To view the document in your browser, click on its name.

Client Attachments Section

The Client Attachments section will be displayed if the staff member has asked you to attach any document(s). Review the instructions from the staff member in the Messages icon.

Click the ADD button to attach a document.

Service Fees

Based on your needs, the staff member will communicate the applicable charges. The Service Fees section will display a breakdown of all the applicable charges.

Billing Details

This section displays the billing information of your company for your reference.

Bill To field will be populated with your company name and the Billing Address with the registered address of your Singapore company.

The information from the Billing Details section is used for the proforma invoice during your payment.

Review Request Step

After you submit the request, the staff member will review the information you provided. The staff member will answer your questions (or provide additional instructions) in the Messages icon. Learn more about how to communicate with the staff member in CSP. If the staff member requires any clarifications, the request will be assigned to you. You will be notified by email when the request is assigned back to you.

You can also monitor progress of the Request from your dashboard.

Once all the necessary information has been received, the request will be assigned to you and moved to the Make Payment step.

Make Payment Step

In this step, you will be required to make a payment for this service request.

If you have any questions or require clarification about the charges, enter them in the Messages, and click the REQUEST CLARIFICATION button.

The staff member will review your comments and respond promptly.

If you are ready to proceed with the payment, click the MAKE PAYMENT button. It will take you to the My Payments page.

Finalize Transaction Summary Step

In this step, the staff reviews the location of each of the share certificates that are being transferred. If any share certificates were previously delivered to the shareholder, the staff would assign you the Send Share Certificates step and ask you to arrange to send them back to the company secretary.

Send Share Certificates Step

You will be assigned with this step if any of the share certificates being transferred were previously delivered to a shareholder and need to be mailed to the company secretary. Refer to the Messages icon for details.

Prepare Documents for Signatures Step

The system will generate all the documents that need to be signed. The staff member will review the documents for accuracy. After the review, the staff member will send the service request to you to sign the documents.

Sign Documents Step

On this step, all signatories will be requested to sign the documents electronically. Any newly added persons will also need to verify their identities.

The request will automatically move to the next step after all signatories have verified their identities and electronically signed the documents.

Review Signed Documents Step

The staff member will review the signed documents for accuracy.

If the staff member requires additional information, the request will be assigned to you at the Sign Documents step.

Update ACRA Step

The staff member updates your company record in ACRA with the new shareholding information and retrieves the updated ACRA Business Profile.

Final QA Step

In this step, the staff reviews and verifies the full information for this service request. If everything is in order, the request will be moved to the next step.

Close Workflow Step

The services you requested have been delivered, and this request is now ready to be closed.

The completed service requests will be shown in the Completed Requests section.
